Kalisher Design?
Get big-time experience at a small-time
price. That’s the short of it. I have a decade of Graphic
Design experience and honed my web skills creating parts of high
profile sites including Apple.com. This, while working for a large
ad agency where my hourly billing rate made even me blanche. Now
I charge an affordable rate for my time; you get the website you’ve
always dreamed of and I earn a living without sitting on BART for
two hours a day, so we all make out.
What Kind of Sites Do You Design?
Nothing aggravates me more than a slow moving, difficult to navigate,
cookie cutter site that doesn’t provide enough information.
I believe that effective, powerful and fun web sites
are:
- Clean
- Easy to navigate
- Rich with information
- Uniquely designed to reinforce branding
With that in mind, my work follows a simple
philosophy: each client deserves a web-based solution that is built
around their business and no one else’s. Just as no two businesses
are the same, no two websites should be the same. Which is why from
navigation to overall design, each website I create is new from
the ground up.
What About The Hosting Company and All
That Technical Stuff?
I regularly work with the nation’s largest
(and least expensive) web hosting companies and can easily show
you how to set up your own account with them. Or I can set it up
for you. As you wish. There is a long list of technical issues when
designing for the web which I need to worry about and which, ideally,
you would never know exist. Suffice it to say, I make sure that
your pages – including all of your images – are optimized
for the web and load quickly. No one should get aggravated, fall
asleep, or even take two breaths while waiting for one of your web
pages to load.
In addition, I make sure that all the sites
I design work on several current versions of both Internet Explorer
and Netscape (these are the two most popular browsers, and yes,
the same website can respond differently on both). I also test each
site on a Mac and a PC as there can be differences on both platforms
as well.
Can I Update My Site Without You?
Absolutely! There are several options for editing
your web content. We'll find the one that best suits your needs
and I'll give you a tutorial. After that, you can call me anytime
you get stuck, but if you’re simply making text changes, you
should be able to do this on your own and at no cost.
Who Maps Out The Website?
It can be either of us. As you wish. It’s
certainly less expensive if you map out the content yourself. All
you need to do is scratch out the text you would like on each web
page and I’ll work out the navigation and design. If you don’t
have the time or interest, I can map out your site and hire a writer
to create copy that will do you justice. Again, it’s entirely

Sure You Sound Clever, But Can You Meet
A Deadline?
This is business. It should be fun. But it is
business. And you have deadlines. And my job is to meet them. I
have never missed a deadline yet. And I don’t intend to start.
If you have the time and interest, you can call several of my clients
and ask them how well I met their expectations not to mention their
deadlines.
Is This Expensive?
It doesn’t have to be. Creating new web
solutions is the best way to give you a professional web presence,
but it doesn’t have to cost a lot. In fact, working through
Kalisher Design will be a lot less expensive than working through
a larger organization even if they try to fit you into an pre-designed
web site.
